Chapter 334 – It’s All Because of Love
Su Jincheng glared at Luo Qiqi when they were in her room. “What’s going on? When did my son become Gu Yi’an’s?!”
Annoyed, Luo Qiqi kicked him. “Su Jincheng, what’s wrong with you! Gu Yi’an and Guan Zijue used to be a couple!”
This instantly stunned Su Jincheng. What, they were a couple? I see...
Everything seemed to fall into place now. It’s no wonder Luo Qiqi felt safe staying here with Gu Yi’an, and he finally understood why Gu Yi’an acted so out of sorts earlier...
Su Jincheng then asked, “But if they were a couple, why did Gu Yi’an say that Lele was his?”
“You know that Gu Yi’an is a part of Sin Eliminators, right? At the time, Guan Zijue was only a major in the military. Do you think it’s possible for them to stay together when they are on opposite sides of the law? Furthermore, both of them are men, and that’s not allowed in the military. It would also affect the Guan family’s honor and reputation!”
Luo Qiqi stared at Su Jincheng and said, “Well, it’s all because of The Dark Night that everything happened!”
Su Jincheng looked at her, confused. What has that got to do with The Dark Night?
“It happened while you weren’t around. In the past two years, The Dark Night had been eyeing Sin Eliminators and Gu Yi’an, and they were the ones who leaked the news about him and Guan Zijue being together. My brother came up with a plan for Gu Yi’an to fake his death, and that helped the Guan family to tide over the crisis at the time. Gu Yi’an decided to keep this from Guan Zijue, so he lied and said that he liked me instead! Which led to what happened earlier!”
“I see. I never would have expected for someone as chill as Gu Yi’an to actually have such blazing emotions!”
“Yeah. He almost died after getting shot right in the chest. He hasn’t been well lately, and he has frequent chest pains.”
Su Jincheng turned melancholic. “It’s love that hurts the most.”
Luo Qiqi’s expression darkened at this. “Are you thinking of Wuxin again!”
“Why are you bringing her up all of a sudden?”
“I like Wuxin, but I don’t really like the fact that she’s still in your heart!”
“Qiqi, what do you mean?”
“What do I mean? Su Jincheng, stop pretending, would you? What did you say to me the morning after Wuxin passed away? You said I wished for her death because she liked you! Su Jincheng, I have no idea what’s going on in your head. I think it’s good that we keep our distance from each other!”
Su Jincheng embraced Luo Qiqi.
“Qiqi, don’t misunderstand. I was just too upset at the time, and I felt like I owed Wuxin too much. She saved me countless times, and she’s not the cruel and vicious type either. She had never hurt others. I couldn’t take the fact that she died because of me, do you understand that, Qiqi?”
Luo Qiqi then asked, “What if I was the one who died?” Su Jincheng hugged her tight before answering. “I’d follow you into the afterlife. I wouldn’t be able to continue living without you!”
Luo Qiqi allowed Su Jincheng to continue holding her in his arms for a while. I can’t blame him for that. But I still feel upset.
Their embrace was broken by Su Jinyu’s sudden yelp from outside.
The two of them and Gu Yi’an rushed out to see a broken fish tank on the floor.
Gu Yi’an dashed to the kitchen and filled up a large basin with water before going to pick up the fish on the floor.
Luo Qiqi and Su Jincheng helped out while Su Jinyu stood there, finally realizing that he seemed to have done something wrong.
Pursing his lips, he started picking up the fish as well.
Gu Yi’an started cleaning up the area only after all the fish were safely in the basin.
Luo Qiqi pulled her son to the side and asked, “Lele, why did you break the fish tank?”
“Mummy, everyone went into their rooms and no one cared about me. I wanted to play with the fish but they can’t swim out of the tank. They would only hit the sides of the tank. I was afraid that they would hurt themselves because they kept hitting the sides of the tank, so I took a piece of rock and broke it to save them, then… then it became like that!”
Su Jincheng marveled at how much love his son had for something like a tiny fish.
Luo Qiqi then asked, “Did you think about what would happen if the fish didn’t have enough water to swim around in?”
Su Jinyu shook his head. “I didn’t think about that. I only wanted to get them out!”
“My dear, think about things before you act, because what you do might just backfire if you rush into things without thinking about the consequences.”
Su Jinyu nodded. “Mummy, I made a mistake!”
Luo Qiqi patted him on the head.
Su Jincheng walked over to Luo Qiqi and said softly, “Qiqi, you’ve taught him well!”
Luo Qiqi simply rolled her eyes at him and ignored him.
Everyone then retired to their own rooms for the night.
Guan Zijue appeared the very next morning in the apartment.
He sat silently on the sofa while Gu Yi’an stood a short distance away from him, not saying a single word.
Sensing Guan Zijue’s imposing aura, Su Jincheng asked playfully, “What’s Guan Zijue’s rank in the military now? That aura of his is extraordinary!”
Luo Qiqi nodded. “But of course, he’s a general now. He’s probably the youngest one in the country.”
“I see. He’s risen up the ranks pretty quickly in just five years!” Luo Qiqi rolled her eyes. “Do you think that came easy? You have no idea how much he has been through in the past few years!”
Su Jincheng then teased, “It’s all because of love!”
Luo Qiqi rolled her eyes again. “You may leave now!”
Su Jincheng laughed at this.
The two of them were observing everything in the living room as they stood in the corridor.
Guan Zijue was expressionless, while Gu Yi’an seemed to be losing his patience.
“What are you doing? We’re going out today!”
Guan Zijue ignored him.
Su Jincheng looked at Luo Qiqi in confusion. “We’re going out?”
Luo Qiqi shook her head. “I don’t know! Maybe...”
She looked at the fish tank and said, “Maybe it’s to buy a new fish tank. Yi’an probably wants to replace the old one.”
Su Jincheng then continued watching the scene in the living room.
After some contemplation, Guan Zijue stood up and walked towards Gu Yi’an, stopping right in front of him.
“I’d like to speak with you!”
Gu Yi’an looked out through the windows, unwilling to make eye contact with him. “I have nothing to say to you!”
Guan Zijue’s expression darkened as he took one step closer to Gu Yi’an.
“Is that so?”
There was a trace of nervousness in Gu Yi’an’s voice as he said, “Mr Guan, please leave. You’re not welcome here!”
Guan Zijue chose to ignore what he just said and asked, “What do you think your so-called wife would do if I force you into anything?”
Luo Qiqi deadpanned while Su Jincheng glanced at her, amused.
Gu Yi’an tried to push Guan Zijue away as he placed a hand on his chest.
“Guan Zijue, don’t mess around!”
Guan Zijue scoffed at this. “What? Don’t you like addressing me as Mr Guan?”
Gu Yi’an frowned at him. “Guan Zijue, what do you want?”
“I don’t want anything. But I have a question. If that’s your son, why does he look so much like Su Jincheng!”
This rendered Gu Yi’an speechless. He never thought about that at all.
It was at this moment that Luo Qiqi realized they had failed to keep the truth from Guan Zijue. He had already seen through them last night.
Su Jincheng was secretly amused as he watched everything unfold.
