Chapter 3
Half an hour ago.
Xiao Han and Xia Miaomiao also fell from the sky.
The two of them landed in a small forest, screaming as they crashed into a tree, startling a flock of crows, causing them to caw loudly.
"Ah, damn it, I'm gonna die from this fall!" Xiao Han's forehead twisted into a frown as she pushed Xia Miaomiao who had landed on top of her.
"Miaomiao, are you okay?" Xiao Han sat up in alarm when she saw Xia Miaomiao lying motionless.
"Miaomiao!" Xiao Han quickly reached out to check her breathing.
"Hoo..." Xiao Han let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully, she was alive.
She instinctively surveyed the pitch-black surroundings. It seemed to be a small forest.
Before she could think further, she vaguely saw a figure in black not far away, flashing past and disappearing into the darkness.
Xiao Han watched the figure disappear. At this moment, she couldn't care about much else. She withdrew her gaze and pushed the unconscious Xia Miaomiao again.
"Miaomiao, wake up, Miaomiao!"
Seeing that she still didn't wake up, Xiao Han pinched her philtrum.
After a while of effort, Xia Miaomiao slowly opened her eyes.
"Xiao Han?" Xia Miaomiao looked bewildered.
"Phew, you finally woke up!" Xiao Han breathed a sigh of relief.
Xia Miaomiao seemed a bit slow to react. Xiao Han helped her sit up, and she looked around in confusion.
"Where are we? Weren't we visiting a museum?" Xia Miaomiao rubbed her head.
Suddenly, a crow cawed, causing Xia Miaomiao to quickly grab onto Xiao Han's arm in fright.
The two of them nervously looked around, and after a moment of silence, they exchanged glances and said in unison:
"We've traveled through time?!"
Both of them looked at each other in astonishment, taking a while to process what had happened.
"Hahaha, did I really time travel? This incredible thing actually happened to me?!" Xiao Han burst into laughter.
Xia Miaomiao: "..."
"Xiao Han, is this... a good thing?" Xia Miaomiao looked at her with a puzzled expression. "Well... why wouldn't it be? Time travel, isn't it as exciting as dissecting something?" Xiao Han seemed to be very excited.
Xia Miaomiao: "..."
Well, Xia Miaomiao really couldn't understand her thought process.
"By the way, what about Mo Mo and Sister Li?!" Xia Miaomiao suddenly remembered.
Xiao Han was startled, "Right, where are they?!"
The two of them stood up and looked around. With the moonlight, they could still see their surroundings, though it was not completely dark.
Xia Miaomiao tightly held onto Xiao Han's arm. She was scared, after all.
"They might have landed somewhere else. We have to go and find them!" Xiao Han urged.
"Wait a minute..." Xia Miaomiao seemed to have remembered something. She looked at her bag and took out her phone from inside.
"I can't believe it... my phone came through with me?!" Xiao Han patted the back pocket of her jeans, but she didn't find her phone.
She didn't like carrying a bag when going out. She found it troublesome and usually just held her phone in her hand or put it in her pocket.
But when they had the accident at the museum and traveled through time, her phone had long since disappeared.
When Xia Miaomiao turned on her phone, she realized that there was no signal at all!
"No signal..." Xia Miaomiao seemed to have realized something, and she was on the verge of tears.
"Xiao Han, are we not crossing over to an ancient era without electricity, the internet, or anything?" she asked anxiously.
Xiao Han patted her shoulder and said seriously, "Don't worry. With you, the academic genius, by my side, no matter which dynasty we cross over to, we will easily understand the background of that era, make a fortune, and reach the pinnacle of life!"
Xia Miaomiao stayed silent.
"The most pressing matter now is to find Mo Mo and Sister Li as soon as possible!"
The two of them linked arms, and Xia Miaomiao turned on the flashlight on her phone as they walked along a path in the woods.
"Mo Mo, Sister Li, where are you?" Xiao Han and Xia Miaomiao shouted while walking.
Occasionally, the cawing of a crow startled Xia Miaomiao, making her legs tremble.
Fortunately, Xiao Han was fearless and not afraid of such things.
Suddenly, Xiao Han stopped abruptly.
"What's wrong?" Xia Miaomiao asked nervously.
Xiao Han sniffed and detected a strong smell of blood. Being a medical student, she was particularly sensitive to this scent.
"I think I smell blood..."
Xia Miaomiao's grip tightened, and fear surged within her. "Could it be... Mo Mo and Sister Li?"
Xiao Han took Xia Miaomiao's phone and pointed it towards the right front.
"It seems to be over there!"
There was no road to the right front, only dense weeds.
"Miaomiao, if you're scared, wait here for me. I'll go and check if it's Mo Mo and Sister Li!" Xiao Han said urgently. "I'll go with you!" Xia Miaomiao firmly followed behind Xiao Han.
The closer they got, the stronger the smell of blood became.
Their worries had surpassed their fear, and they started running.
When Xiao Han saw the scene before her, she immediately froze.
Xia Miaomiao ran into Xiao Han from behind unexpectedly. "Ah... What's wrong, Xiao Han? Is it Mo Mo and Sister Li?"
Xia Miaomiao was about to peek out, but Xiao Han covered her eyes in one swift motion.
She used the phone's flashlight to illuminate the man covered in blood.
"It's not Mo Mo and Sister Li. It's a man who has bled a lot. The scene is a bit gruesome, so you need to mentally prepare yourself," Xiao Han warned.
Xiao Han slowly removed her hand, even though she had already given Xia Miaomiao a heads-up.
However, when Xia Miaomiao saw the scene before her eyes, her brain was still heavily impacted, and she took a few steps back in fright.
She gasped for breath, unable to believe what she was seeing—a man lying in a pool of blood.
As a modern person, she had never witnessed such a bloody scene with her own eyes!
Fortunately, it was nighttime, so the view was not very clear.
In comparison, Xiao Han remained calm. She had dissected corpses before, so she was not afraid at all.
"Miaomiao, wait here for me. I'll go and see if he's dead!" Xiao Han said, taking her phone and walking towards the man.
As she approached the man, Xiao Han shone the flashlight on his face.
His complexion was pale, devoid of any trace of blood, and his eyes were wide open, as if he couldn't close them even in death.
Xiao Han felt that he was already dead when she saw him in that state. However, she still checked his breathing and pulse and discovered that he still had a faint breath!
But... with him in this condition, there was no way to save him!
Suddenly, Xiao Han noticed the man's lips moving as if he wanted to say something.
"What do you want to say?!" Xiao Han furrowed her brow, but the man's voice was too faint to hear clearly.
"Xiao Han, is he not dead?" Xia Miaomiao exclaimed.
"Miaomiao, come here quickly! He wants to say something, but I can't hear him. You know lip reading, don't you?"
Ignoring her fear, Xia Miaomiao immediately ran over.
She saw the man's lips move slightly, then his head tilted, and he completely stopped breathing.
The two exchanged glances.
"What did he say? Did you hear it clearly?" Xiao Han asked, looking confused.
Xia Miaomiao tried her best not to look at the man's lifeless face.
"The movement of his lips was too subtle, and I'm not sure if my interpretation is correct, but it seemed like he said 'Unscrupulous Merchant's Ring.'"
Both of them furrowed their brows. What on earth did that mean? They had no clue.
